my teachers were lal and lorrie…at first i did not know them much they were only people i met in some previous time, they were untouchable to me…i felt like a kid who is so impress with a person that she cannot appreciate them…then i remember ”humans teach what they need to learn the most”..i don’t remember when i have heard that but i did..i completed 3 weeks of training whith them…they are both so different but they complete each other…i was not easy…as i have a very easy way to feel persecuted i made myself a victim of not being understood at some time…that is when everything changed for me .lorrie said what an angel needed me to understand….some time peoplee come to your life ..they come and go but some people stay, and so do their words…this women with out knowing it she changed my life …one word ..one sentence..one huge moment..i understood what my role was…lal was the artist. his voice was crazy inspiring, very sensitive made me want to just become better….and now, hello …my name is Somya…2 people changed my life ….and i would love them to know that…i am sober and leaving for los cabos in 1 week to see how can i touch somebody else’s life…nobody is perfect lorrie. merci. Thank you. now every time i have temptation i do the warrior and i think of you…you both changed my life and where ever you are you will still change lives every day..this is your path…
i love you deeply
Namaste Beloveds! So much I have wanted to share with you over time. I know that you see some of my activity on facebook. But I feel moved tonight to send you a quick personal message to humbly thank you for being my teachers, for arriving at just right moment, when I thought I would have to wait until my kids were grown to finally begin to pursue my dreams!
I want you to know that the work I have been doing over the passed 2 years has been powerful and I am learning every day the power and grace of Yoga. The Breath. Mindfulness. I am humbled and grateful to be a minister of Yoga from Vastu.
I have walked through the open doors of the Athens Clarke Co jail with open arms and excitement and as of today I am teaching Yoga and mindfulness to a group of women inmates. I shared with them the power of the breath and meditation to set you free. At the end I taught them all Namaste and looked each one in the eye with gratitude. They were stunned and moved and mirrored back, bowing and smiling. I feel like I have been given the greatest gift to share. I am blessed beyond belief.
And so now I bow to you with gratitude in my heart…
Namaste ~ Laxshmi xx
Thank you to Lorrie and Lal – It has been 6 months since I completed your full bodied teacher training and I continue to reap the benefits. Every corner I turn I am learning, listening, trying, giving, doing, helping, expending and then more learning as I am still a curious student. Your teachings opened my mind and heart to the Yoga in Everything and I am Eternally Grateful. I love you both, Mirabai
I feel very grateful to have experienced the yoga teacher’s training with Lal and Lorrie. The very essence and origin of yoga was present through every moment. Together they form the beautiful union of masculine and feminine energy offering the gentle push to learn the material, have a deeper experience of the asana practice as well as bringing the beautiful Hindu rituals which brings the sacredness to this whole process. My practice deepened and opened the path for more, strengthening my commitment to yoga.
Namaste Lorrie and Lal. thinking of you and sending you love this morning… was talking to my parents about the yoga teachers training and what all we shared… It filled my heart with joy just talking about the training and the meditations, the retreats …. miss you.. just wanted to say.. thank you, for all that you gave and for all that you have shared with us.
i am greatful. Suchi Vatturi
Dear Lorrie & Lal, Thank you so much for the opportunity to participate in the Vastu Teacher Training. The first in Athens. What an honor and a blessing! Your generosity will continue to be an inspiration to me for the rest of my life. I am honored to be able to “play it forward” by participating actively, whole heartily and with the deepest gratitude in my community, Athens and the world at large! I learned so much about kindness, discipline, introspection, and PEACE from the experiences you made available in the training and also from each of your sweet spirits. I feel more committed than ever to the path of yoga-the path of exploration, of gratitude, of community engagement, of acceptance of LOVE. I am so happy that you’ve decided to make Athens (one of) your home(s).! This town has a lot of magic in store for you, as I know you do for it!
With love, peace, gratitude, (and a new found love for kapalabati!)

Tracie and I met through the yoga teacher training at Vastu School of Yoga. In this course, we learned the primary principles of Sivananda and how to let go. Entering the course, our intention was to deepen our own personal practice rather than teach. But at the completion of our course, we realized the need for yoga in our community, so we decided to open a studio together. We appreciate Lorrie and Lal’s dedication to their students and the yoga community. They provided each student with a place to begin and an opportunity for growth. Through the teacher training, we deepened our understanding of yoga and created great bonds among fellow yogis that will last a lifetime.
My experience in the Vastu School of Yoga was amazing. I had no idea how much I would learn and how deeply I would feel the experience. We delved deeply into the history, writings and knowledge of love that Yoga is. We also learned exactly how to teach and assist a class. We were offered a lot of what might be called extra credit which was Shivakami and Lal’s willingness Afor the learning and teachings we received but it was done with love and the sincerest desire to give us, the students everything we wanted. When the training was over I could quite easily teach a Sivinanda Yoga class. I was nervous but successful and I now teach 4 classes a week and it is the most important part of my weekly schedule. Recently several students commented that they really liked my class and I responded that I truly loved teaching and even joked that if I had to, I would pay to teach Yoga. They thought that was hilarious and I must say I am glad I don’t have to pay to teach. But it is true that I get more than I give when I teach, and I am truly honored to have been taught by Shivakami and Lal of Vastu School of Yoga.

“My training with Lorrie and Lal has changed my life on so many levels and in so many ways that I never expected. I have gained so much strength — physically, mentally and spiritually. What I learned during my 200-hour YTT will carry me throughout the rest of my life. Lorrie and Lal are so easy to work with, and they make you feel comfortable, letting you know that the universe is unfolding exactly the way it’s supposed to. Discovering Vastu and the Sivananda tradition of yoga, for me, was like returning home.”

Vastu School of Yoga showed up in my life just at the right time. Having done yoga on and off since age 19 and more consistantly over the last 10 years, their presence of traditional yoga was just what I felt to be a soothing ride for my psyche as well as my aging body. “Listen to your body” is a mantra all should chant. Both Lorrie and Lal bring such appealing energies and intelligence to the session that I always feel refreshed and wanting more. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you
The Vastu Yoga Teacher Training was a life-changing experience for me. At first I was intimidated by the idea of giving up coffee, alcohol, eggs, and other vices for 10 weeks but, like Lal said the first day of the program, the more you give up the more you gain. In the absence of these non-necesseties I was filled with a sense of peace, joy, laughter, and community that has carried me into a wonderful and fulfilling yoga teaching practice. Participating in this training was the best decision I made in 2009!

I have practiced the physical aspect of yoga for many years… it was not until this training that it became a way of life for me. This training taught me more in two months than I learned in three years. It helped me organize and solidify free-floating ideas into a clear light, and it taught me that yoga is the path I want to follow. This training has been relevant and applicable to some aspect of life every day, since. And the most important aspect: the realization that I am everything. Everything I want or need to be. This training, with no doctrines or heavy rules taught me the discipline of that realization. I miss our training a lot. I wish I could take it over.

Vastu School of Yoga allows opportunity and enrichment. My experience is this opportunity is only available here. Here at Vastu I personally know my abilities are gently and caringly enhanced. Thank you Lorrie ShivaKami, and Lal. Jamie Pinto
